Whine - Beach volleyball outfits
One of the TV stations we receive is Universal Sports. It is an NBC affiliated channel, and can be found in the greater Philadelphia market on channel 10.3. This is not a cable channel, but rather a channel received over the airwaves.
Recently, I was watching the AVP Kentucky Grilled Chicken finals out of Chicago, IL. In full wide screen, I had the joy of watching the ladies #1 ranked team of Branagh and Youngs defeat Kessy and Ross. I also had the joy of watching these fine female athletes jumping around in the sand. In those tiny, tiny little bikinis.
OK, so why am I complaining about that. Yea, I'll admit I don't mind seeing the ladies in their tiny suits. BUT, I will admit, from my perspective, how can they possibly be comfortable? Did you ever see a men's beach volleyball outfit? Knee-length shorts / bathing suit bottoms (and I also saw baggy a-sleeve t-shirts {at least one of the matches I saw}). I'm not saying "Let's get them in a tiny Speedo." But is it fair to those poor ladies that they have to dress like that?
I took a brief look at the internet to try to find out why, and the answers were hard to find. I did come across a Yahoo! Answers to the question that I think was reasonable.
These athletes are swimmers or cyclists trying to maximize their aerodynamicity. No, they are beach volleyball players. Why not allow then to wear shorts? Let the PLAYER decide what they want to wear - within reason, of course.
I saw a match, I believe it was an FIVB match, sometime in August. The female players were wearing what looked like sweat suit outfits. I thought it was weird looking. I eventually found out from the commentators that they were wearing the outfits because of the unseasonably cold weather.
So back to the suits. Are they intended to draw a larger male crowd? And what benefit would that have? Wouldn't the advertising and or sponsorship have to support a larger male crowd? Perhaps that is why the sponsor was Kentucky Grilled Chicken - to try to encourage more males to eat it. What about the stadium and uniform sponsors? I don't have any idea who they were at this point, but if more males are watching the program, shouldn't that sponsorship also be male oriented? If it isn't, then I go all the way back to my original question: why do these ladies have to wear such tiny bikinis to play beach volleyball?

Edam is light yellow in color, is typically found in small wheels or spheres, and is wrapped in a red wax coating. The name Edam comes from the town in North Holland where the cheese is wrapped. It is comparably lower in fat and has less smell.
It can likely be used in a number of dishes. I would recommend sampling some prior to using it in a recipe.
I personally have not tried Edam, but frankly, based on this article, I just might have to seek some out.
One of the good things to remember about this cheese is that it is Dutch. Something else to remember is that it is wrapped in was. And it is frequently used as an answer to crossword puzzle clues.
You can find more information about cheddar here.
